Description
Halloumi is a dairy product made from a mixture of cow’s, goat’s and sheep’s milk or entirely of goat’s and sheep’s milk.
Halloumi is classified in the category of cheeses and can be characterized as semi-hard. It has a white color, does not melt at high temperatures compared to other cheeses and can be eaten fresh, fried, grilled, as a crumb, in soup but also as an ingredient in various types of pasta and baked goods.
It can be consumed in various forms and preparations throughout the day, from breakfast to dinner.
It is a traditional product of Cyprus which is served both inside Cyprus and abroad. From the very old years it is part of the cultural heritage of the place and is directly connected to the traditional rural life through the production of fresh milk by local producers.
